Picasa!

My niece, Reese!!

1. The technology that I explored for this assignment was called Picasa.

2. Picasa is a FREE download that allows its users to upload their pictures to the computer and then create a collage or movie with the pictures. I LOVE pictures and scrapbooking so I decided that this would be the technology I explored. The more pictures I could add to the collage the better. :)

3. This website was very user friendly. It took about 2 or 3 minutes for the entire program to download onto my computer. Because I have recently purchased a new computer, I did not have a lot of pictures on my computer. The program gave me an option to upload all the pictures on my computer, which was so much better than uploading one at a time. It only took a few seconds for all of my pictures to be uploaded. As I began to put the pictures of my niece onto the collage, they dissappeared on the side bar so that I would not duplicate the picture onto the collage. I feel like this could be very useful in the classroom, because it is easy and fun. In grade school we used to have to cut out pictures that started with the given letter and paste them on a piece of paper. Instead of the messy glue the child could do it online by using this program!!

4. My collage is posted above!!! Hope you enjoy it.

5. I found that organizing all of your pictures into a folder may make it easier and to upload the pictures to the site. I would also suggest messing around with the program before you start to work with it. It allows you to change colors and make the pictures bigger or smaller, along with eliminating red eye and touching up the picture's quality. You can also add borders to each one of the pictures if you desire Also, I would check out the digital movie that you can create. After I finished my collage I started the video. It could be very useful for graduation open houses or something of that sort. It would also be more interesting if you added music to the video to make it more meaningful. The program is a lot of fun, espeically if you are into pictures or scrapbooking. Have fun and enjoy!

Emerging Technology 2

For my second emerging technology assignment I decided to do Scrapblogging. I love to scrapbook in my spare time so I thought that I could really get into this website. Scrapblog.com was very fun for me. It was a lot easier than doing the hand-made scrapbooks, but just as fun. I have done something very similar to this website, but the other one was called Snapfish. They were both very similar to eachother and I really enjoyed messing around with this website.

1. Scrapblog.com is a website lets you make a scrapbook without using glue!!!! You choose the background and pictures and then insert from there.

2. This online verison of scrapbooking takes a little less time than it would take to do a handmade scrapbook. This way could even be a little cheaper for whoever is scrapbooking. You do not have to mess with going to the store and getting all the different supplies and printing all of the pictures. Everything you need to make a memorable scrapbook is offered through the website.

3. The website is very user-friendly. I was able to sign up in a matter of seconds and start my scrapbook right away. It gave options for pages that already had a strict layout or one that was blank so you could start from scratch yourself. Its even good because you can take pictures from anywhere off the net (faceook, myspace, photobucket and many more) if you did not have axcess to the original picture. I felt like this website had so many different backgrounds to choose from and things that would make it unique. I like it just as much as snapfish and maybe even a little more!

4. Here is my small portion of scrapblog.com!

5. I did not have any troubles when trying to use this website. For the most part, everything was pretty easy to figure out. I would suggest organizing your pictures because there are themed backgrouds that could make it easier to help you speed up your process. I would also suggest taking your time looking through all of the options! There are so many different things that you can do to make your scrapbook be unique. I would also suggest taking the time to look through everything before you get started. There are so many options to pick from! I took my pictures and did some editing on picknik (an online site that allows you to add words and fun stuff to your picutres to make them look cute). I thought that it made my pages better. Take your time and have fun with this site! :)
